Anna Paquin

Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actor. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Wellington and made her debut as Flora McGrath when she played the role of Flora McGrath in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Supporting Actress. Following a formal audition at the age of nine, she changed her name to Flora McGrath - the daughter of an Scottish muffled pianist during the 19th century. Her family relocated to New Zealand to marry an arrangement-based husband. The actress moved to the United States as a teen. Paquin had the role of lead in Fly Away Home in 1996 and was also in a smaller role in Jane Eyre as just a young child. Paquin did a brief appearance in the television movie of 1997 adapting Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad her character was the Spanish queen in a minor role. She also played teens for Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon(1999) as well as Almost Famous (2000). Also, she played the character Polexia Aphrodisa.
